3D sound

Virtual reality for your ears.

Our innovative 3D sound puts you inside real natural landscapes, where you can hear sound from every direction: rain overhead, thunder rolling in behind you, a creek running at your feet. No special equipment needed, just the headphones you already own.

Normal audio squeezes everything onto a line between your ears.

3D sound captures a place the way your ears hear it, so every sound stays where it is: near, far, beside or behind you.

Put on headphones, press play, then move the slider.

Surroundscapes Albums

Preserved exactly as nature played it.

Every album captures a real moment in a real place, in 3D sound. Each track flows seamlessly into the next for one uninterrupted listen, so you can press play once and let it carry you through your work, a study session, or a quiet night in.

Our mission

Natural places are getting harder to hear.

63%

of U.S. protected areas have had their sound levels doubled by human noise. That halves the area where nature can be heard.

21%

have had them raised tenfold or more. That shrinks the area where nature can be heard by 90%.

We record, preserve, and share the true sound of these natural places to give more people a reason to listen closely.

Noise pollution can shrink a landscape. We preserve its sound for generations to come.

Making people forget they’re wearing headphones since 2017.

In 2017, John Taylor Tucker, a Meow Wolf alumnus, created The Tucker Zone, a viral experience told entirely in 3D sound. It has since been heard over a billion times across the internet. Surroundscapes gives that craft a purpose: preserving the sound of natural landscapes and raising awareness for sound conservation.
